How Long Does It Take to Grow a Beard?
It takes between two and six months to develop a full beard. In general, beards grow around half an inch each month. But, like men, not all beards are created equal. Your age, ethnicity, diet, and testosterone levels all impact beard growth (more about that below).
Here are the Stages of Beard Growth:
1. STUBBLE
2 to 3 Weeks > Getting Prickly? Persevere
A five o’clock shadow? Totally cool. Scratchy facial fuzz? Not so much. The key: keep your eye on the furry prize. Stay strong and resist the urge to trim.
DO keep your face fresh, clean, and moisturized. Exfoliate often. Have patience, growing a thick full beard can take up to six months.
DON’T give up, as the new growth pushes through, a little irritation around the facial hair follicles is normal.
2. PATCHY
5 to 6 Weeks > Patchwork beard?
Be Patient You’ve surpassed stubbly.
Your beard is coming in and could be anywhere from perfect to slightly patchy. (Facial hair does not always grow at the same rate.) If you have any uneven patches – don’t worry, it is normal. Stay strong. You got this!
DO focus on the beard-to-be. Keep up the self-care. Exfoliation stimulates the follicles and will help you get past the unevenness.
DON’T lose sight of the end goal. If the itchiness gets too much; use a brush and a little beard oil to soothe away the temptation to trim.
3. BEARD
8 to 10 Weeks > Get Grooming
You stood strong and let your patchy beard grow around an inch-long. It may be a little unruly in places. So, tool up with the best tool for the job: a Wahl trimmer and shave the top of the cheeks and neck (an inch above your Adam’s apple).
DO start a beard regimen. Wash your face, trim, and moisturize often – because a fresh beard can dry out your skin.
DON’T skip regular bear
4. FULL BEARD
3 to 6 Months > Look at You!
By now you should have a fully grown beard – and the opportunity of a lifelong, facial companion if you treat it right. Now you get to try out cool beard styles to find one that best suits your natural hair texture and face shape.

Beard Questions You Are Asking.
How Long Does It Take a Beard to Fill In?
It depends on so many things from hair type or testosterone levels to hair type and age. Generally, after a month or so you’ll see stubble. Another month later you may experience a patchy beard that should fill in (if you persevere) at around the three-month mark. The only way to truly know? Get growing, my friend.
What Age is a Beard Fully Developed?
Usually guys start sprouting a little facial fuzz during middle to high school age. By 18-20 most guys can grow a “starter” beard. The prime age for growing a thick, dense beard would be around the mid-20s (when the old testosterone is surging). Eventually, as the twilight years loom, growth will thin out and/or slow down.
How Long Can I Grow my Beard?
Length-wise – many beards, if cared for and kept healthy, can grow up to three feet if left untrimmed. It’s not usual for beards to keep growing after three feet. Time-wise – you can continue to grow your beard for several years but there is a stage at which your beard will reach its maximum length.
What Does a Two-Month Beard Look Like?
Hopefully, magnificent. If you’ve been growing it for 8-10 weeks (hair grows about half an inch per month) it should be on the verge of a fully grown beard (see above for more details). And ready to style it in many ways!
How Do You Grow a Beard Faster?
Well, Mother Nature holds the key to that. Your genetics, age, ethnicity and testosterone levels determine so much about your beard. There are some things you can do to give your beard the best chance of success. Cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize your face often. Stay healthy, eat a balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. Exercise, get good sleep every night and avoid stress. That’s how to grow a beard faster.
